Benefits of Committee Membership

Members of this committee develop practical answers to the issues that arise because of changes mandated by both private (FASB and AICPA) and government regulators (FERC, SEC and NARUC).  Membership affords the opportunity to work with some of the leading accountants in the industry in developing solutions to accounting problems faced by most companies.  In short, active participation on this committee helps prepare you for the next level of responsibility in accounting.

Products and Services

The committee sponsors two of the leading utility accounting texts available, Introduction to Public Utility Accounting and Introduction to Depreciation and Net Salvage, and sponsors both introductory and advanced-level public utility accounting courses.  The committee also conducts a training seminar on property accounting and depreciation.  Special workshops on emerging issues are conducted periodically.  Topics discussed in previous workshops include asset retirement obligations, shared services and activity-based costing.  Committee members participate in an email SOS information program that provides quick access to peers nationwide for questions in the areas of finance and accounting.
