Scope
The role of the AGA Communications & Marketing Committee is to provide direction, expertise and guidance for all of the association’s communications marketing programs. Activities include, but are not limited to, advising the Board of Directors on marketing and public relations issues; identifying and drafting strategic communications plans for emerging issues; improving the knowledge of AGA members on public and marketing related topics; planning cooperative public marketing programs with other organizations (inside and outside the gas industry); developing best practices for communications activities; and, providing and overseeing issues involving customers’ use of natural gas. Additionally, the AGA Communications & Marketing Committee oversees educational outreach to customers and informational programs on gas safety, government and environmental issues (global warming) and other consumer oriented topics; serves as an editorial advisory group for American Gas magazine; and, provides networking opportunities and information sharing amongst peers.
The Communications & Marketing Committee is comprised of mid- to senior-level executives from member companies. Typically the group is comprised of vice presents, directors and managers.
Participants help formulate committee strategies for dealing with major issues and programs that provide bottom-line impact on individual companies. Members are provided the opportunity to learn how other companies have dealt effectively with problems similar to their own.
This committee provides communications plans for advocacy issues, breaking news, upcoming news stories, books, videos and periodicals and materials for the AGA web site, topical workshops and seminars for customers and members, benchmarking and best practices efforts, and other critical information.
This committee reports to the AGA Board Membership Services Committee.
This committee meets twice per year to stay current on natural gas industry issues and provide input into AGA’s Communications and Marketing Committee.
