Corrosion Control

  1. Application of corrosion mitigation methods to natural gas drilling, gathering, storage, transmission, and distribution systems.
  2. Initiate discussion and research that will lead to the development of improved techniques for the application of corrosion control technology and integrity management.
  3. Provide forum to promote the use of best practices and procedures for the application of cathodic protection in accordance with recognized engineering practices and procedures and the rules and regulations of government authorities.
  4. Provide technical support and leadership with other committees in applying transmission and distribution integrity management processes and procedures.
  5. Provide technical support and leadership with other committees to support AGA activities for federal regulatory enhancements to transmission or distribution integrity management.
  6. Support AGA events by providing technical support and leadership on program content and making presentations on corrosion control and integrity management topics.

Directors, managers, supervisors and engineers involved with corrosion control/ integrity management for either transmission or distribution systems.

Benefits Of Committee Membership

Committee members broaden their own competence by meeting contemporaries and sharing state-of-the-art-engineering information.  Benefits also include work on industry technical references and forums to provide cost savings and other benefits to the entire gas industry.

Products and Services

Technical Notes on corrosion control and integrity management subjects.  Monitor federal requirements for corrosion control, pipeline assessments, and remediation.  Advise Regulatory Action Committee on technical issues.  Individual members provide guidance to AGA member companies for corrosion control and integrity management issues.  Provide recommended material for Gas Piping Technology Committee Guide.

Interaction with other AGA Committees/Outside Organizations

Liaison is maintained with other AGA committees (e.g. DC&M, DTE, GPTC, AGA best practices).  The committee maintains contact where possible with other technical associations and committees (e.g. NACE, PRCI, ASME) for recommended practices, training and research.

Meetings

Usually meets twice a year in the late spring and fall. Additional meetings as required and approved by the Operating Section Managing Committee.
