Environmental Matters

To collect, develop and disseminate technical data and information relating to environmental compliance; to sponsor programs, papers and publications for general use and dissemination; to foster appropriate research related to environmental subjects; to provide technical support to the Environmental Regulatory Action Committee and related functions of the American Gas Association.

Typical Committee Member

Directors and managers of environmental departments; environmental engineers and scientists.

Benefits of Committee Membership

Members are involved in determining and disseminating information that will promote practical and responsible environmental management.  Members provide input to comments on proposed environmental regulation.  Members also learn how other companies have dealt effectively with problems similar to their own.

Products and Services

Major services include producing workshops, technical notes on topical environmental issues and sessions at the annual Operation Conference.  Topics covered included environmental auditing practices, compliance with air, water, and waste regulations, management and redevelopment of manufactured gas plant sites, etc.

Interaction wtih Other AGA Committees/Outside Organizations

The committee works closely with AGA’s Operating Section Environmental Regulatory Action Committee (ERAC) and other AGA committees (e.g. SOH, UCFS, DC&M, US, SG.

Meetings

This committee meets twice a year in the spring and fall.  Most of the committee work is done by email and telephone.
