Legislative

Serves as the advocacy arm for AGA’s position on issues before the U.S. Congress and the Executive Branch (excluding the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission). Provides a focal point for the exchange of information on federal issues and for the coordination of lobbying positions, activities and strategies. Identifies and reports on key federal issues to the Government Relations Policy Committee.

Benefits of Committee Membership

Members receive monthly issues brief on key industry issues, and other information on AGA government relations policy issues. Monthly meetings include briefings by Members of Congress and key Congressional and Executive branch staff. Various task forces of the committee provide opportunity for coordinated lobbying on specific legislative issues and timely access to information regarding legislation.

Interaction with other AGA Committees/Outside Organizations

The committee interacts with other trade associations and coalitions on specific issues and interacts with several AGA committees, subcommittees and task forces including the Public Relations Committee; Operations Safety Regulatory Action Committee; Environmental Regulatory Action Committee; the State Regulatory Committee; the Taxation Committee; and the RD&D Initiative.

Meetings

Monthly (except August). Annual Public Affairs Forum. Task force meetings as required.
