Marketing Communications

The Strategic Marketing Committee provides expertise and guidance on:
  • collaboration with industry organizations to promote customers' direct use of natural gas;
  • improving the knowledge of AGA members on market related topics; and
  • educational outreach to customers and trade allies and other key constituencies on natural gas topics.

Typical Committee Member

The Strategic Marketing Committee (SMC) is comprised of mid- to senior-level executives (i.e., vice presidents, directors, managers) from AGA member companies who are responsible for some or all of the following areas: marketing, marketing communications, advertising, customer care.

Benefits of Committee Membership

Participation on the committee provides members with the opportunity to steer AA activities in the area of customer programs to provide maximum benefit to the membership, and to advance their own knowledge on customer-related issues.

Products and Services

The SMC provides guidance and advice to AGA staff in conducting the following activities: 1) development and maintenance of web-based and other educational content for customers and AGA members; 2) topical workshops and seminars for customers and members; 3) strategic planning forums for customers, members, trade allies and industry organizations; 4) benchmarking and best practices efforts; and 5) identification of needed customer research.

Interaction with other Committees and Outside Organizations

This committee reports to the AGA Board Membership Services Committee, works very closely with the AGA Public Relations Committee, and provides direction to AGA's Customer Activities Committee. The SMC also coordinates and oversees joint efforts with the Cooling Center, Industrial Center and other industry organizations.

Meetings

The SMC meets twice a year, with additional meetings of the Executive Committee as needed.
