Public Relations

The role of the AGA Public Relations Committee is to provide direction for all of the association’s communications programs.  Activities include, but are not limited to, advising the Board of Directors on public relations issues; identifying and drafting strategic communications plans for emerging issues; planning cooperative public relations programs with other organizations (inside and outside the gas industry); developing best practices for communications activities.  The AGA Public Relations Committee oversees educational and informational programs on gas safety, government and environmental issues (global warming) and other consumer oriented topics; serving as an editorial advisory group for American Gas magazine; network and share information with peers.  In addition, this committee works closely with the Strategic Marketing Committee to develop and integrate strategic marketing plans with communications plans on critical issues facing the industry.

Benefits of Membership

Products and Services

Major products include safety materials, key issue information kits, market-support articles and brochures, regular and timely email updates on upcoming news stories, breaking news and other critical information, books, videos and periodicals and materials for the AGA web site.  Provide strategic communications plans for advocacy issues.

Interaction with other AGA Committees/Outside Organizations

This committee reports to the Government Relations Policy Committee and works closely with the Strategic Marketing Committee.

Meetings

This committee meets twice per year in order to stay current on natural gas industry communications issues and to provide input for AGA’s public relations activities.  The committee also may meet more frequently as issues dictate.
