Department of Transportation/NARUC: Pipeline Safety The federal pipeline safety program is presently operating under a continuing resolution, and is due to be reauthorized. The 112th Congress must craft a final reauthorization vehicle that will improve the safety and security of the U.S. pipeline network. The federal regulator (PHMSA) and state commissioners will discuss such issues as: jurisdiction, automatic pipeline shutoff valves, penalties for pipeline safety violations, resources, rate and shareholder impacts, R&D needs, and inspection methodologies. The presentation will be followed by Q&A.
