Boiler MACT: Opportunities for Natural Gas Utilities

On February 21, 2011, the Environmental Protection Agency finalized a rule, the EPA Boiler MACT, to reduce air toxic emissions from new and existing industrial, institutional, and commercial boilers and process heaters. The rule will have implications for facilities with coal and oil-fired units. Clean energy strategies for compliance could include natural gas and combined heat and power creating opportunities for natural gas utilities.

Program Agenda:

  • Introduction and brief Boiler MACT overview - Pam Lacey, Senior Managing Council, American Gas Association
  • Potential for energy efficiency, combined heat and power, and natural gas utilities - David Gardiner, Principal, David Gardiner & Associates
  • Technical Assistance program efforts - Katrina Pielli, Senior Policy Advisor & CHP Deployment Lead, U.S. Department of Energy
