This is an annual foundation course, updated each year as technology, regulation, competition and markets evolve. Karl McDermott, former commissioner with the Illinois Commerce Commission and Ameren Distinguished Professor of Business and Government at the University of Illinois, leads the course for AGA.
Course Objective
The objective of this program is to develop a more complete understanding of the operations of the gas industry and of utility regulation, particularly as it relates to rate making issues from pipeline to retail rates.
Participants should develop a better understanding of the part they play in their organizations and gain preparation for positions of greater responsibility. The format includes instruction from speakers with first-hand experience in:

- Cost of Service
- Risk and ROE
- Innovative Costing and Ratemaking
- Energy Efficiency and Conservation
- Gas Supply Planning and Procurement
- Interactive Case Studies
Who Should Attend
This program is offered to professional employees of firms in the natural gas industry, regulators, consultants, and lawyers. This course qualifies for 30 professional education credits.
Location and Accommodations
This course is conducted at the Gleacher Center in Chicago just off North Michigan Avenue. Many name brand business hotels are within walking distance of the Gleacher Center and attendees are welcome to choose among them.
