AGA Praises Congress for Passing Bi-Partisan Legislation To Expand Gulf Coast Production

Washington, D.C. – “Today, Congress seized an historic opportunity and passed legislation that significantly increases the energy security for more than 200 million Americans,” said David N. Parker, president and CEO of the American Gas Association (AGA).

“With passage of ‘The Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act’ Congress has ensured that an increasing share of domestic natural gas supplies will be available for use by all Americans,” noted Parker.” “We applaud Senator Pete Domenici (R-NM), Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX), Rep. Richard Pombo (R-CA), Rep. John Peterson, (R-PA), Rep. Neil Abercrombie (D-HI), Rep. Bobby Jindal (R-LA), Rep. Charlie Melancon (D-LA), and Rep. Adam Putnam (R-FL) for their outstanding bi-partisan leadership in reaching this agreement.” Parked added that “This is an important step in the right direction, but there is still much work to be done as we move forward in our effort to enhance our national security by making America less reliant on unreliable foreign sources of energy.”
