 Laura Sheehan Joins AGA as Vice President of Marketing and Communications   

 
   

Washington, DC – The American Gas Association (AGA) today announced the appointment of Capitol Hill veteran and seasoned communications professional Laura Sheehan as vice president of marketing and communications.

“Laura brings to AGA over 17 years of communications experience including media relations, grassroots outreach, political communications, coalition building and policy research and counsel, and will be a tremendous asset to our team,” said Richard Shelby, AGA’s executive vice president of public affairs. “Having had Laura as our external communications advisor, we are especially pleased to now have her knowledge and expertise in-house.”

As vice president of marketing and communications, Sheehan will develop and implement communications strategies to promote natural gas and its applications to key stakeholders including media, industry leaders, Members of Congress, and consumers.

Sheehan joins AGA from FD Dittus Communications, where she was the vice president responsible for leading the energy and environment practice and counted AGA among a multitude of clients, including Shell Exploration & Production, the American Clean Skies Foundation, the FutureGen Alliance, the Center for Clean Air Policy, the Independent Petroleum Association of America, Florida Power & Light, the Community Power Alliance, and the Alliance to Save Energy.

Prior to joining FD Dittus, Sheehan served as policy director of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), where she advised individual campaigns on policy and press opportunities.

Sheehan also served as democratic communications director for House Committee on Energy and Commerce and spokesperson to Chairman John D. Dingell (D-MI). In this position, Sheehan directed national Democratic communication strategies for high-profile oversight and investigation hearings for Enron, Ford-Firestone and Martha Stewart, among others. Sheehan helped craft communications strategies for a number of key Congressional battles including the legislation that ultimately evolved into the Energy Policy Act of 2005.

Sheehan began her career on the Hill working as press secretary for Senator Christopher J. Dodd (D-CT).
