Washington, D.C. – The American Gas Association (AGA) today offered congratulations to President-elect Barack Obama on a successful and victorious campaign that inspired the nation. Obama, along with Vice President-elect Joe Biden, has introduced a “New Energy for America” plan that favors investments in clean energy and outlines multiple options for energy supply and generation.
David N. Parker, AGA president and CEO, offered the following comment:
“We look forward to working with President-elect Obama and Vice President-elect Biden to craft balanced policies that encourage increased domestic energy production and the increased use of natural gas, which is the cleanest, most efficient fossil fuel.
“These goals can be achieved by continuing to permit energy exploration in the Outer Continental Shelf, by funding research for new energy technologies and by promoting energy efficiency techniques, such as home weatherization, across the United States.
“Energy issues coupled with the current financial crisis are now a top priority for Americans and AGA urges the 111th Congress and the new Administration to begin a dialogue as soon as possible that incorporates clean, affordable fuels such as natural gas into any energy equation going forward into 2009.”
