Washington, DC – The American Gas Association (AGA) today applauded Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Chairman Joseph T. Kelliher for his years of dedication to the commission and his leadership on a wide variety of energy issues. David N. Parker, president of AGA, offered the following comment:
“We thank Chairman Kelliher for his public service, first as commissioner and then as the chairman of FERC. During his years at the commission, he has been a capable and thoughtful regulator who has demonstrated a commitment to serving the best interests of America’s energy consumers by developing sound energy policies.
“He distinguished himself through the implementation of the statutory authority given to FERC in the Energy Policy Act of 2005, and in continuing the transformation of the commission into a market regulator with a significant enforcement capability. Chairman Kelliher guided FERC through many critical challenges with a sure and steady hand.
“AGA is eager to work with Kelliher’s successor to help build a secure energy future that encourages the increased use of natural gas, which is the cleanest and most efficient fossil fuel available to customers.”
