Washington, DC – American Gas Association (AGA) president and CEO David N. Parker today released the following statement regarding the American Gas Foundation’s new study, “Natural Gas End Use: A Vision for Today and the Future”:
“This study underscores what we at AGA have been saying for years – that the immediate and future benefits of the increased use of natural gas are clear. Significant reductions in green house gas emissions, greater energy independence and a stronger economy can all be achieved by increasing the widespread use of this clean fuel.
The era of excess in this country is over. Efficiency is the new name of the game. Our consumers, our citizens and our government are telling us ‘less is more.’
The American Gas Foundation has laid out a detailed, multi-step plan recommending funds for research and development projects that will enable natural gas to continue on its path as the most preferable energy source today and in the future. By developing new technologies for end-use applications, the natural gas industry is achieving and can keep achieving new heights in energy efficiency.
As this study so aptly concludes, natural gas can readily and easily meet the nation’s immediate need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and it will be a critical player in the America’s clean energy future.”
