AGA Participates in Consumer Energy Alliance Annual Energy Day

Moving Energy Dialogue Forward on Capitol Hill

WASHINGTON, DC – This week, the American Gas Association (AGA) participated in the Consumer Energy Alliance’s (CEA) fourth annual Energy Day on Capitol Hill. The event took place on October 12, 2010, in conjunction with CEA’s first ever Sustainability Forum, and featured leading energy experts and business executives. More than 40 members of Congress served on the event’s host committee and nearly 30 companies, organizations and municipal governments were represented.

CEA Energy Day brings together consumers, businesses, manufacturers, agricultural organizations, retirees, transportation, energy providers and municipal governments to discuss energy strategies and how they can help create jobs, revitalize the economy and improve our nation’s energy security.  This year’s Sustainability Forum will discuss how myriad business sectors and municipal governments have advanced initiatives aimed at boosting energy efficiency, conservation and sustainability. CEA’s Sustainability Report — which will be officially released at the forum — will contain best practices and achievements from every sector of the American economy in their pursuit of more effective energy management practices.

“Sustainability has become a growing concern nationwide and today’s forum will provide an opportunity for various business sectors and municipal governments to communicate to their peers, as well as to our nation’s legislative leaders, how they are successfully confronting the energy challenges and opportunities they face,” said CEA President David Holt. “Our hope is that by showcasing successful sustainability practices we can advance the congressional dialogue on developing energy policies focused on responsible management of our domestic energy resources – wind, solar, nuclear, coal, oil, and natural gas – to provide a stronger future for consumers.”
