Washington, D.C. – The American Gas Association (AGA) today welcomes George Lowe as its new Vice President of Federal Affairs. George brings extensive legislative experience to AGA, having worked in the United States Senate for more than a decade.
“George’s extensive experience on Capitol Hill will be an asset to AGA and our membership,” said AGA President and CEO Dave McCurdy. “As our national political leaders examine the changing energy landscape, George will help lead our advocacy work to keep them informed about the benefits of clean natural gas for our nation. We are excited to have him on our team.”
For eleven years, George worked for United States Senator Ted Stevens (R-AK), serving as his Chief of Staff from 2005 to 2009. He was also the Senator’s Legislative Director and Chief Counsel. George served as Chief of Staff to United States Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) during her successful reelection in 2004, one of the closest races in the country that year.
Since 2009, George has managed his own consulting firm, Lowe Strategies LLC which specialized in energy, commerce, defense and homeland security issues, providing strategic advice on issues before congress and the Administration including policy planning, legislative advocacy and crisis management.
George has a Bachelors of Science from The University of Oregon and a law degree from The University of San Diego School of Law.
