U.S. Natural Gas Boom Leads The Global Energy Conversation

LNG 17, Largest Global Gas Event of the Year, Begins Next Week in Houston

Houston, TX – The largest global gas event of the year begins next week when the American Gas Association (AGA) hosts the 17th International Conference and Exhibition on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG 17). America’s abundance of natural gas is changing the energy conversation throughout the world. On every continent, leaders and consumers are waiting to see what the U.S. supply of this clean energy source could mean for the global marketplace. LNG 17 will bring strategic and commercial leaders and technical experts together for four days of sessions, workshops and tours of world-leading LNG facilities. LNG 17 will take place in the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas, April 16-19.

“Our nation’s abundance of natural gas is transforming our economy here at home, but its impact is also being felt throughout the world,” said Dave McCurdy, President and CEO of the American Gas Association. “The United States is a leader in providing clean, affordable and reliable energy. LNG 17 is the latest in a series of conversations that AGA is hosting that will shape the future of the energy industry worldwide.”

The distinguished list of speakers at the conference includes senior executives from world leaders in the natural gas industry including Gazprom, Shell, Chevron, BP, Petrobras, Enagás, Repsol and many others.

America’s natural gas utilities are committed to securing a clean energy future for the nation through the safe development and delivery of the country’s abundant natural resources. During LNG 17, AGA will announce a substantial commitment to developing the natural gas workforce. These investments, along with the ones we make in our natural gas infrastructure every day, will help ensure the legacy of American energy.

AGA will hold the Presidency of the International Gas Union from 2015 through 2018, and in that role will help to facilitate an ongoing and global conversation about how we power our planet, and host the 27th World Gas Conference (WGC2018) in Washington, DC in June 2018.

The American Gas Association, founded in 1918, represents more than 200 local energy companies that deliver clean natural gas throughout the United States. There are more than 71 million residential, commercial and industrial natural gas customers in the U.S., of which 94 percent — over 68 million customers — receive their gas from AGA members. Today, natural gas meets almost one-fourth of the United States' energy needs.
