Lawrence Borgard, of Integrys Energy Group, Elected First Vice Chairman of AGA Board of Directors

Washington, D.C. – Lawrence T. Borgard (Larry), president and chief operating officer of Integrys Energy Group Inc. (NYSE:TEG), was recently elected to serve as first vice chairman of the American Gas Association (AGA) Board of Directors for the remainder of 2011. The election was announced at the AGA corporate meeting in Orlando, FL.

“Larry’s background and extensive industry knowledge will be invaluable to AGA,” said Dave McCurdy, president and CEO of AGA. “Larry has been a leader of our industry for years, and we look forward to him taking on this new role as we help America move toward a clean and efficient energy future that takes full advantage of America’s foundation fuel, natural gas.”

"I am pleased and honored to be elected to this position by my peers," said Mr. Borgard. "AGA has always been an outstanding resource for natural gas utilities as the industry promotes the safe and reliable use of its products.  With many member companies embarking on extensive programs to upgrade natural gas distribution and transmission systems across the country, AGA will continue to provide valuable information and research about safety and other best practices to aid in the effort."

Integrys Energy Group operates utility companies across the northeast quadrant of the United States and serves 1.6 million natural gas customers and 500 thousand electric customers. Mr. Borgard is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company’s natural gas and electric subsidiaries.

Mr. Borgard has spent 26 years in the energy industry.  He began his career at Wisconsin Public Service in 1984 and has managed field operations, regulatory compliance, transmission and planning.  More recently he has held a number of executive level positions within multiple subsidiaries.

Mr. Borgard holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh, and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program.

Mr. Borgard serves on the board of directors of the Midwest Energy Association and the Metropolitan Planning Council (Chicago), among others.

The American Gas Association, founded in 1918, represents more than 200 local energy companies that deliver clean natural gas throughout the United States. There are more than 71 million residential, commercial and industrial natural gas customers in the U.S., of which 94 percent — over 68 million customers — receive their gas from AGA members. Today, natural gas meets almost one-fourth of the United States' energy needs.
