On December 22, 2010, AGA filed a petition with PHMSA seeking amendment to the final rule on Pipeline Safety: Updates to Pipeline and Liquefied Natural Gas Reporting Requirements. The following portions of the petition were granted:
- PHMSA revised the instructions for the gas distribution incident form to clarify that secondary ignition events ("fire first" events) where the fire exists first and subsequently results in damage to the pipeline facilities, need only be reported if the damage to the pipeline facility exceeds $50,000.
- PHMSA retracted and revised the LNG annual report to address concerns AGA had with the several requirements including the leak definition, latitude and longitude and testing emergency shutoff actuation reporting
- PHMSA did not change the transmission annual report requirement to submit pipeline miles by class location and percent of specified minimum yield strength
