AGA worked with the Operating Section Regulatory Action Committee (OSRAC) to develop an industry white paper on the verification of MAOPs on existing steel transmission pipelines. AGA hoeps that this document may be a useful resource for operators in helping it determine its actions in response to the NTSB recommendations from San Bruno and the PHMSA Advisory Bulletin issued on January 10, 2011. The paper is largely based upon both existing and past practices of operators in determining the MAOP of transmission pipelines. This document should provide some consistency for the industry on what constitutes sufficient records, as pipeline operators begin to have discussions with their state and federal regulators.
