AGA Commends House Committee Bipartisan Passage Of Pipeline Safety Bill

Washington, D.C. - The American Gas Association (AGA) today commends the House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee for its passage of the Pipeline Infrastructure and Community Protection Act of 2011, HR 2937. The unanimous vote to pass the bill marks the committee s commitment to working in a bipartisan fashion on the critical issue of pipeline safety.

AGA and its member companies hold pipeline safety above all other industry priorities and are delighted to see that the members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee worked diligently to put together a sound pipeline safety bill that will advance safety, said Dave McCurdy, president and CEO of AGA. The issue of pipeline safety is non-partisan, and is an issue of paramount importance to both Congress and the natural gas industry.

It is commendable to have our leaders working together to maintain pipeline safety as a top priority, continued McCurdy. The passage of this safety bill brings us one step closer to getting a final bill passed and we look forward to working with the leadership of the Committee to getting a bill on the House floor for a vote this year.
