AGA Commends Senate for Swift Passage of Pipeline Safety Bill

Washington, D.C. - The American Gas Association (AGA) today commended the U.S. Senate for acting swiftly in passing H.R. 2845, the Pipeline Safety, Regulatory Certainty, and Job Creation Act of 2011 by unanimous consent.

AGA and our member companies are very pleased that the Senate saw fit to act promptly, said Dave McCurdy, president and CEO of AGA. There are 2.1 million miles of local utility distribution pipelines through which natural gas is delivered and the passage of this critical legislation will enhance our industry s ability to serve our customers safely and reliably. We are pleased with the bipartisan leadership on this issue and we commend the Senate for this unanimous vote.

The passage of this bill by both chambers of Congress brings us one step closer to reaching our ultimate goal, which is getting a bill to the President s desk for signature this year, said McCurdy.
