AGA Comments on Proposal to Reissue and Modify Nationwide Permits
AGA has provided the Army Corps of Engineers with feedback on the Corps' proposal to modify and reissue the Nationwide Permit Program. The Nationwide Permit (NWP) Program is essential to facilitate timely energy infrastructure projects so that natural gas utilities can continue to provide safe, reliable transportation of cleaner burning natural gas to businesses and residences. AGA members rely on nationwide permits to address regularly scheduled, time-sensitive repair and maintenance work, bank stabilization, removal of retired pipelines, and for various types of pipeline construction projects including new transmission and pipeline expansion. AGA supported many of the Corps' proposed modifications that provide flexibility to natural gas utilities in relying on NWPs and suggested several clarifications to improve the efficiency of these permits.
