Event Overview

We are currently six months into an unprecedented pandemic that has forced many of our organizations to send large groups of workers into remote work situations. Now, as we are all facing a new “normal,” employers are examining our Remote Work and Flexible Schedule policies and considering how they should be adapted for the future. As we address these policies, one thing we must consider is the payroll and unemployment insurance treatment for employees compensated by an organization located in a state that is not the state in which the employee lives (and is now working).  S. Michael Chittenden, Special Counsel at Covington & Burling, LLP, whose practice focuses on employment tax and information reporting issues, will discuss historical rules for withholding on employee wages, recent state guidance addressing withholding in the time of COVID-19, and the trends he’s seeing as we adapt to our new reality.

Following a 45-minute presentation from Michael, we will have an opportunity for discussion and questions with the group.
