AGA Corrosion Control and Prevention Webinar
AGA will be hosting the second and final web-based session to highlight practices to prevent and mitigate the risk of corrosion on distribution and transmission pipeline systems. Join and hear from individuals who have a wealth of knowledge and experience in cathodic protection.
Joining us as speakers, will be:
- Hui Yu, TRC Companies
- Adam Day, National Grid
- Paul Sedlet, Accurate Corrosion Control, Inc., and Preston Ford, PG&E
The webinar will include the following sessions:
- Practical Concerns in AC Mitigation Design and Installation – High voltage power line (HVPL) caused induced current may result in severe corrosion issues to the collocated buried pipeline in the sharing corridor. This presentation uses modeling results to discuss how the grounding material and installation approach, such as the grounding wire type, wire size, multiple wires, distance and position of the grounding wire from the pipeline, etc, impacts the effectiveness of the mitigation system.
- Pipes on Bridges Inspection and Remediation – This presentation will take an in-depth look at how National Grid handles their atmospheric corrosion pipe program in complex locations for inspection and remediation. National Grid currently manages over 1500 assets as part of this program in three states. From this session, operators should come away with a better idea of how to inspect and remediate their assets from a corrosion perspective.
- Attaching Test Leads to a Pipeline Without Heat – An Alternate Method: Discussion of the need and subsequent development of an alternate method to attach a test lead wire to a pipeline. This new method utilizes a combination of magnets with conductive epoxy for a safer “no-heat” alternative test lead installation.
