Objective: The Legal Committee members serve as legal advisors to the association, AGA Board of Directors and Executive Committee of AGA, AGA staff, and AGA committees. The Legal Committee helps to provide recommendations on public policy litigation, provides programs and services for attorneys in the natural gas industry, and helps to ensure federal policies, laws, and rulemakings have a constructive impact on member companies' ability to deliver natural gas safely, reliably and at reasonable prices. The Legal Committee also shares best practices information on helping to solve legal issues usually unique to regulated natural gas utilities.

Who Should Participate: Committee members come from a cross section of member companies and are primarily the chief legal officers of AGA Full and Limited member companies.

What Participants Can Expect: Participation in the Legal Committee can help to shape government policy, increase members success in advocacy, keep them abreast of legal developments and sharpen the companies attorneys skills. Committee members help to formulate legal policies for the association, provide legal advice to the AGA Board of Directors, and guidance to AGA on litigation (federal and state). Members can also receive support from AGA and its members on potential precedent-setting cases. Members receive litigation alerts, analyses and summaries of legal issues; participate in audio-conferences on important legal issues; and have access to AGA s SOS program. The Committee also sponsors the annual AGA Legal Forum. The AGA Legal Forum is an intensive two-day seminar that gives participants the opportunity for in-depth discussion of gas industry issues with other member company general counsel and senior attorneys.
