Washington, D.C. – The American Gas Association announced today that Susan Forrester will join its team as Vice President of Advocacy and Outreach. In this new role, Forrester will assist the organization in building and maintaining strong partnerships at the local, state and national levels.
“Sue’s deep experience in the energy space, along with her political and advocacy acumen, will strengthen the work we do to help bring the benefits of affordable and reliable energy to Americans every day,” said Karen Harbert, President and CEO at the American Gas Association. “I have worked with Sue for many years and believe the skills she brings will be valuable for our members and our organization.”
Prior to joining AGA, Forrester was the Managing Director at the US Chamber of Commerce’s Global Energy Institute, where she developed a comprehensive external affairs strategy, built strong and diverse coalitions and managed a variety of successful advocacy and grassroots campaigns. Prior to GEI, Forrester was the Vice President for Issue Advocacy at the National Association of Manufacturers. She has also held senior positions at the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc., and the Republican National Committee. Forrester will join AGA on September 16.
The American Gas Association, founded in 1918, represents more than 200 local energy companies that deliver clean natural gas throughout the United States. There are more than 75 million residential, commercial and industrial natural gas customers in the U.S., of which 95 percent — more than 71 million customers — receive their gas from AGA members. Today, natural gas meets more than three-tenths of the United States' energy needs.
