AGA Applauds Trump Administration’s Action on FERC Nominees

News Release May 09, 2017

Washington, D.C. – The American Gas Association (AGA) applauds the Trump Administration for nominating Neil Chatterjee and Robert Powelson to fill two of the current three commissioner vacancies at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

“AGA urges the prompt confirmation of these nominees by the Senate. Having a quorum will allow FERC to continue its important work for the natural gas industry – including timely decisions on pending and future interstate natural gas infrastructure project certificates,” said President and CEO Dave McCurdy.

The American Gas Association, founded in 1918, represents more than 200 local energy companies that deliver clean natural gas throughout the United States. There are more than 73 million residential, commercial and industrial natural gas customers in the U.S., of which 95 percent — more than 69 million customers — receive their gas from AGA members. Today, natural gas meets more than one-fourth of the United States' energy needs.
