AGA Releases Inaugural Natural Gas Playbook

Washington, D.C. -  The American Gas Association (AGA) today released its inaugural natural gas policy playbook, officially the 2011 AGA Policy Handbook, which outlines a common set of facts on natural gas and the natural gas industry, including pipeline safety, resource development, energy efficiency and regulation. The playbook also covers the history of natural gas, the challenges and opportunities of the natural gas industry, and the priority issues and strategies with respect to the production, transmission, distribution and use of America s clean-burning and domestically abundant natural gas.

This playbook details the public policy issues that AGA and our industry believe are critical to realize the goals of energy security, a cleaner environment and economic prosperity, said Dave McCurdy, president and CEO of AGA.

The playbook also contains information about innovation, direct economic benefits, including industry-related jobs, and more.

McCurdy continued: Thanks to an unprecedented abundance of natural gas supply, both domestically and globally, our industry is poised to reshape not only U.S. energy policy, but also the international natural gas market, as interest in, and demand for this invaluable energy resource continues to grow. Natural gas is America s domestic, clean foundation fuel for now and our long-term future, and when abundant supplies of natural gas are combined with the entire energy portfolio of wind, solar and nuclear, natural gas creates an entirely new playing field for the U.S. economy.
