American Gas Association Joins National Clean Energy Week Steering Committee
Washington, D.C. – The American Gas Association (AGA) announced today that it will join the Steering Committee of National Clean Energy Week (NCEW). AGA represents more than 200 local energy companies that deliver clean natural gas throughout the United States. National Clean Energy Week will take place September 25-29.
“Natural gas is an essential part of our clean energy future as our nation’s abundant resources provide energy for homes and businesses, fuel our vehicles, generate power and support other forms of renewable energy,” said Dave McCurdy, president and CEO of the American Gas Association. “The United States has achieved the lowest annual carbon dioxide emissions in decades while witnessing simultaneous growth in natural gas and renewables. We are poised to build on that success because America’s natural gas utilities have access to an unprecedented supply of this clean foundation fuel and 2.5 million miles of pipelines to deliver it to homes and businesses safely and affordably. National Clean Energy Week is a great opportunity to showcase the benefits of natural gas and how the energy industry is working together to improve the lives of our customers and protect our environment.”
During National Clean Energy Week, AGA will join with industry associations, businesses, non-profits, and advocates in the clean energy space for activities in Washington, D.C., and across America, to influence the discussion around common sense clean energy solutions that directly address America’s need for abundant, reliable forms of energy.
The list of organizations taking part in planning discussions for National Clean Energy Week includes:
- American Gas Association (AGA)
- Energy Storage Association (ESA)
- Center for Liquefied Natural Gas (CLNG)
