News Release October 02, 2017

Washington, D.C. – The American Gas Association (AGA) is proud to announce that Glenn R. Jennings, Chairman, President & CEO of Delta Natural Gas Co., Inc. in Winchester, KY has received the 2017 Distinguished Service Award. Jennings is the longest serving board member in AGA’s history. The award was presented today at the AGA Executive Conference.

“Glenn is a remarkable person and colleague whom I can always rely on for his steady and wise counsel. It is an honor to serve with Glenn and to call him our friend,” said AGA President and CEO Dave McCurdy. “Glenn’s advocacy on behalf of the smaller companies that make up AGA’s membership has enriched our advocacy by broadening our perspective and enhancing our collective voice. His leadership led to the formation of AGA’s Small Member Council in 1990 and, most impressively, he continues to play a valuable role in amplifying the voice of these companies in the national energy dialogue 27 years later. His longevity and perseverance is a testament to his commitment to his company, our industry and the American Gas Association. I am honored to present him with the 2017 AGA Distinguished Service Award.”

Glenn Jennings was the first person in his family to graduate from college, earning a business degree from Berea College in 1972. After working as a certified public accountant with Arthur Andersen and a production supervisor with Ford Motor Company in Cincinnati, Jennings returned to his hometown to work as internal auditor at Berea College in 1977. In 1979, he joined Delta Gas and six years later became the company's president and CEO, a position he has held for more than thirty years. Under Jennings’ leadership, Delta Gas expanded to become a publicly traded company.

Jennings has served as president of Berea College Alumni Association (1996-97) and was elected to Berea College’s board of trustees in 2011. He has also been a member of Berea City Council since 1996. Jennings has served on the board of directors for Girl Scouts of Kentucky’s Wilderness Road Council, and served three terms on the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce board. He has served as chairman of Berea National Bank board of directors, chairman of Southern Gas Association, president of Kentucky Gas Association and on Berea Hospital’s board.

The American Gas Association, founded in 1918, represents more than 200 local energy companies that deliver clean natural gas throughout the United States. There are more than 73 million residential, commercial and industrial natural gas customers in the U.S., of which 95 percent — more than 69 million customers — receive their gas from AGA members. Today, natural gas meets more than one-fourth of the United States' energy needs.
