AGA Urges Congressional Action on Permit Streamlining

Policy April 17, 2015

On April 17, AGA responded to a request from the Subcommittee on Regulatory Affairs and Federal Management, Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, regarding areas where regulatory inefficiencies are impacting AGA members. AGA's letter focused on Permit Streamlining issues impacting the timeliness and transparency of agency processes for securing natural gas infrastructure permits. The letter points out several permitting reforms agencies can swiftly carry out, without new rulemaking and without changes to the laws that govern them. The reforms would help AGA members obtain necessary federal permits and reviews for routine, minimal impact natural gas distribution and intrastate transmission projects.
