Fundamental changes in the supply of natural gas for individual customers, businesses, industries, power generators and even transportation fuel users in the United States has changed the outlook for cleaner, more efficient use of energy in this country. In just five years, perceptions about natural gas supply reliability and affordability have been firmly shaped by growing domestic production, less dependence on natural gas imports, additions to infrastructure and reductions in cost for natural gas consumers. A market that could be interpreted to suffer from supply shortages just five years ago is now demonstrating surpluses.
