Federal oversight of natural gas utility security is a shared responsibility of various Federal agencies. The Presidential Policy Directive 21 (PPD-21) identifies 16 critical infrastructure sectors, with natural gas utilities falling under the Energy Sector, the Transportation Systems Sector, and the Chemical Sector. AGA is a primary resource for its members to stay abreast of Federal government security-related initiatives coming from these agencies. This effort requires close coordination with:

AGA is an active member of the Oil & Natural Gas Sector Coordinating Council (ONG SCC), contributing to the effective and productive public-private partnership of the ONG SCC and Federal government representatives. AGA is also active in security-related activities of other organizations, such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and sister energy trade associations.

All AGA full and limited members are encouraged to actively participate in the AGA Natural Gas Security Committee (NGSC).
