Award of Merit
The Operations Section Award of Merit recognizes individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the gas industry through their involvement in section activities. This award is based on a point system and honors those who demonstrate outstanding leadership, active engagement, and participation in AGA events, as well as consistent and dedicated service to the organization.
Why Should Members Engage
The Operations Section plays a crucial role in supporting Safety, Operations, Engineering and Security (SOES) throughout the natural gas industry. When members actively participate in SOE’s technical committees, discussion groups, conferences, and other industry events, they share valuable knowledge and experience that enhances continuous learning and improvement. This collaboration is essential for promoting safety among member employees, customers, and the communities they serve. All AGA Members are eligible for Award of Merit.
Award Levels
There are five levels of awards and a Lifetime Achievement category for an individual who has accumulated points of 150 or more. Award recipients will receive an Award of Merit plaque corresponding to their award level category. The plaques will be presented at the Annual Spring Conference or the Fall Operations Committee Meetings.

SAVE Awards
The Safety Awareness Video Excellence (SAVE) awards recognize outstanding contributions to natural gas communications safety and education, featuring two award categories:
- Internal audience: Video created specifically for staff training, awareness or education, which may contain proprietary information the utility wouldn’t share with the public. (Please note, these video submissions will not be shared publicly.)
- External audience: Public communications video created specifically to educate the general public about natural gas safety.

To be considered, videos must be produced no earlier than May 2025 and should be shorter than 4 minutes. Qualifying videos will be voted on in public polls and reviewed by a judges panel.

Distinguished Service Award
AGA presents its Distinguished Service Award, AGA’s highest award, to the individual or individuals (primarily at the C-Suite level) who have made an outstanding and significant contribution to the natural gas distribution industry.

Natural Gas Industry Leadership Award
The Natural Gas Industry Leadership Award is given to the individual or individuals (non-CEO, executive/director/manager level) who have made a notable commitment and achievement of success in the natural gas industry and has been a leader among their peers in the pursuit of operational excellence and success for their company and the overall natural gas industry.
