Final Comments Submitted to Docket – Transmission Pipeline Repair Criteria ANPRM

AGA co-signed joint Association comments, posted to the docket in response to the Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) published May 20, 2025 related to Repair Criteria for [Hazardous Liquid and] Gas Transmission Pipelines. Comment’s address PHMSA’s solicitation of “stakeholder feedback on potential opportunities to improve the cost-effectiveness of its repair requirements for gas transmission (49 CFR part 192) and hazardous liquid or carbon dioxide (49 CFR part 195) pipelines.” The comments also provide recommendations on how PHMSA might harmonize existing transmission pipeline repair criteria pipeline safety regulations (PSRs), remove barriers to adoption of industry best practices and new technologies, and amendment of obsolete and redundant PSRs.
