Annual Natural Gas Readiness Forum Overview
AGA’s second annual Natural Gas Readiness Forum Summit convened over six dozen energy industry leaders from across natural gas distribution, midstream, and production along with state regulatory utility commissioners, regional transmission operators, the Department of Energy, and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission representatives to discuss system reliability, preparation for high-demand periods, and cross-sector coordination between the natural gas and electric industries. The event was administered by AGA as part of a recommendation from the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) Gas-Electric Alignment for Reliability (GEAR) task force to promote cross-sector coordination in the energy industry and to boost preparedness for major events. AGA comments posted to the docket in response to the PHMSA request for comments on the Direct Final Rule published July 1, 2025, entitled “Pipeline Safety: Clarifying Recordkeeping Requirements for Testing in MAOP Reconfirmation Regulation”. This regulation clarifies the applicability of the requirements for reconfirming the maximum allowable operating pressure of certain gas transmission pipelines.
