AGA Files Comments Feb. 10 on RNG Issues in EPA Vehicle RFS Proposed Rule

On February 10, AGA filed comments on EPA’s proposed rule regarding the 2023, 2024, and 2025 standards for the Renewable Fuel standard (“RFS”) Program. The RFS Program provides valuable credits called RINs for renewable vehicle fuels, including biogas and pipeline quality renewable natural gas (RNG). AGA supported several points made in comments filed by NGVAmerica, the American Biogas Council, and the Coalition for Renewable Natural Gas. Most notably, we urged EPA to make the biogas and RNG producers the RIN generators, rather than electric vehicle manufacturers who lack the fuel producers’ long experience with the RFS program.
