Natural gas is a critical part of American agriculture. Key feedstocks like ammonia, which is used to make nitrogenous fertilizer, are produced from natural gas. As a result, America’s farms and ranches have been key beneficiaries of the growth in U.S. natural gas production, and there is a direct line from the availability of low-cost natural gas to the cost of food on grocery store shelves.
